My teaching journey began in a Montessori centre while I was studying for my teaching degree. After graduating, I spent time travelling and reconnecting with family and friends in Canada before returning to teach at an early childhood centre in Opawa.
I’m a passionate teacher who values building strong, respectful relationships with tamariki and their whānau. I believe in fostering curiosity, confidence, friendship, and fun—encouraging tamariki to love learning and reach their full potential. I’ve been a teacher at Kidditech since July 2018 after relieving for 5 months, I loved Kidditech too much and just had to stay.
I studied in the UK and have both my early childhood and teaching degrees. I have always enjoyed working with children as I love the way they view the world with wonder and delight. My working life has always been jobs with children from being a swimming teachers assistant, a holiday club leader and then on to teaching.
Outside of work I spend time with my husband and two children. We really enjoy going on walks to explore this beautiful country, which is still quite new to me. I also love to bake and get creative in the kitchen with new ideas and designs. If I get some quiet time I can be found with my head in a good book as I am a huge bookworm.
As a teacher I believe in providing an environment where children and families feel safe and included. Helping children to explore, develop and understand their own ideas is a very important to me. I look forward to meeting and getting to know you.

Arts and Crafts Baking Project workHi, I’m Lou — co-owner and manager of Kidditech alongside my husband, Matt. I’m at the centre on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.
Kidditech is my passion and a true reflection of our vision for high-quality, community-focused early childhood education. I take pride in leading a happy, inspired team who create an inviting, fun, and creative environment for children to learn and grow.
After graduating and teaching in early childhood education, I wanted to create a centre that offered something different — rich, science-based learning experiences that spark curiosity and exploration. With Matt’s background in mechanical engineering, we combined our interests in science, technology, and creativity to build Kidditech: a warm, home-like environment where relationships and inspiration come first.
Outside of Kidditech, I love baking, gardening, camping, and sharing creative projects with our two boys, Riley and Tom. Family and creativity are at the heart of everything I do.

Hi, I’m Matt — co-owner of Kidditech alongside Lou. Together we’ve been passionate about providing high-quality early childhood education since founding Kidditech in 2008.
I enjoy the creative side of early learning, especially when it involves building, fixing, and exploring how things work with the children. I love including tamariki in hands-on projects like repairing toys — they’re always eager to help and learn along the way!
I also look after the ICT side of things at Kidditech, keeping our technology and systems running smoothly. Outside of work, I’m a keen footballer who enjoys tramping, four-wheel driving, and spending time with my two boys, Riley and Tom, who share my love of the outdoors and building Lego creations.
